Most people are now using computer for work or at home, resulting in an obvious increase in the number of people complaining of eye strain, difficulty focusing, dry eyes, blurred vision and headaches.
There is no evidence that the use of computers can cause diseases or permanent problems to eyes. However, extended and prolonged use of computers can lead to tired/sore eyes and discomfort. As computers make the eyes to perform more demanding tasks, it may make users more aware of an eyesight problem. It may also make those with pre-existing vision defects more aware if these are not corrected.
As a result people that use computers need to have their eyes tests regularly to reveal any symptoms. Some tips that can help include frequent breaks from the computer, adequate lighting, reduced glare, modifications in the workstation, and use of lenses specifically for computer screens.
